About Jacqueline Kircher
I am an interaction, user experience, user interface and visual designer.
ABOUT JACQUELINE KIRCHER
I have been living, working and studying worldwide for quite some time now. This lifestyle has required a lot of adaptability and discipline as I needed to reach out to the local communities in order to build a new network every time I moved. It was a great adventure so far and I wouldn’t change a thing and I am happy to now have my feet firmly planted in Graz.
Currently, I work for the Educational Technology department at the Graz University of Technology where I lead a team of 5 designers. I can look back on quite a few years of successful freelance work (since 2011), which required a lot of self-motivation, organization, and responsibility.

@ UNIVERSITY OF APPLIED SCIENCES JOANNEUM
The Master’s Degree at the University of Applied Sciences Joanneum was split into 4 fields: film, media, communication and interaction design. From the first semester onwards I was able to focus on interaction, user interface, and user experience design.
@ AUCKLAND UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY
In 2013 I was the only Bachelor student from the entire University of Applied Sciences Salzburg that was fortunate to be nominated to spend a semester abroad at the University of Technology in Auckland, New Zealand. Although this semester was rather focused on visual design, my interest in interaction and user experience design grew from my time in New Zealand and when I returned two years later in 2015, I began to work at a startup called YQ as a UX/UI designer for 6 months.
@ SALZBURG UNIVERSITY OF APPLIED SCIENCES
The application process at the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences was a really exciting experience for me as 1200 prospective students apply annually for the 60 available slots. And further, only 15 students per year are accepted for Media Design, my targeted field of study, which covers: illustration, photography, web & app design, interaction design, user experience and user interface design and much more.
@ NEW DESIGN UNIVERSITY
It was an educational year at the private New Design University in St. Pölten 2011. Similar to the Bauhaus Design studies, the Foundation Course @ the New Design University was the best foundation for a university degree in design. In two semesters this course covered the fundamental basics of design, such as: communication, visual design, science and art history, bookbinding, media technical basics, analog and digital printing, drawing workshop, sketchbook, life drawing, illustrative drawing, Copic marker, calligraphy, graphic design, typography, 3D basics, interior design, fashion design workshops, film, photography, marketing, business, form and color, desktop publishing and portfolio.
ENTREPRENEURSHIP & MANAGEMENT
@ BUSINESS HIGH SCHOOL
As there are different forms of high school in Austria, I chose the business high school (Bundeshandelsakademie) with a focus on entrepreneurship, management, and language. I graduated with distinction within the officially designated 5 years of study. This high school experience was the perfect foundation for my career in design, as business negotiation and presentation skills are needed in every company setting.
